Barron Hobbs - General Manager
A seasoned veteran of the hotel industry, Barron Hobbs
joined Lane Hospitality in 1979, and has been associated with its
Hilton College Station, Texas property since 1985. He began as vice
president of sales and marketing, and was promoted to his present
position of general manager in 1994. Prior to that, he served as
vice president of operations for other hotels in Houston and College
Station.
Over the past three years, Hobbs has overseen the complete
transformation and renovation of Hilton College Station into one of
the premier hotels in the Houston, Dallas and Austin areas. In
addition, he has spearheaded the development of the concept for the
hotel’s new Bell Ranch Steakhouse restaurant.
Hobbs attended the University of Tennessee. As a student in the
marketing program, he worked for Marriott Corporation in various
capacities including bellman and behind the front desk, and for
banquet and catering services. Subsequently, he spent extensive time
with Marriott, training in all aspects of kitchen, restaurant and
hotel operations. He worked at nine of the company’s locations,
including the Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Ariz. and the New Orleans
Marriott.
Hobbs resides with his wife on the family farm in Brazos County.
He serves as secretary/treasurer of the Brazos County Convention
Visitors Bureau, and is a past president of the Brazos Valley
Lodging Association. He is on the board of the Texas Lodging
Association, Sports Foundation, and Houston Livestock Show and
Rodeo.
